This page outlines the chronological sequence of events in the Twenty One Pilots lore as experienced by Clancy.

Early Life in Dema

Clancy grows up in the oppressive city of Dema for nine years, grows disillusioned, and begins writing letters. He hears of the “old world” beyond the city and starts to plot his escape from the Bishops’ control.

Initial Escape & Recapture

Clancy attempts his escape during the Annual Assembly of the Glorified and is the only one to break out.

He is eventually recaptured but escapes again with help from The Torchbearer. (Heavydirtysoul MV)

Exploration of Trench

Clancy crosses into Trench and finds the Banditos. Together, they try to navigate the dangers of escape.

Nico attempts to “smear” Clancy, the Banditos intervene, but Clancy is captured and escapes again. (Jumpsuit MV)

Return to Dema & Bandito Rebellion

Keons finds Clancy and brings him back to Dema.

Clancy escapes once more during a Vialism ceremony. (Nico and the Niners MV)

He reaches the Bandito camp, finds creative resistance through music, but is recaptured. (Trench album) (Levitate MV)

Imprisonment & Propaganda

Clancy is forced by the Bishops to create propaganda for Dema, resulting in the "Scaled and Icy" era where hope and reality are at odds. (Scaled and Icy album)

The Feature Performance Event is staged using reanimated corpses as hosts. (Choker MV / Livestream)

The Escape via Trash

Keons and Torchbearer coordinate another escape. Keons uses psychokinesis to possess Trash and destroys Dema's submarine. (Saturday MV)

Keons is killed; Clancy inherits the antlers from Ned and gains psychokinetic powers. (The Outside MV)

Final Resistance & Confrontation

Clancy and Torchbearer cross Paladin Strait, rallying Banditos for the final push. Clancy infiltrates Dema, spreading hope among citizens. (Overcompensate MV) (Navigating MV)

Clancy and Torchbearer lead the Banditos against Dema; the Bishops raise a zombie army, and Clancy confronts Nico for the last time. (Paladin Strait MV)

Breach — The End

In “City Walls,” Clancy faces and defeats Nico once and for all, harnessing his final strength as Torchbearer arrives in support. The struggle ends not with escape or rebellion but with Clancy succumbing—stabbed by his antlers and ultimately transforming. (City Walls MV)

Clancy tears a red curtain into a bishop's cloak, handing one to each Bandito who entered the tower with him. He takes his place among the Bishops as the Nova Bishop. The cycle of rebellion ends—the rebels became rulers, the system persists, and Torchbearer mourns the loss of “this Clancy.”

It is revealed that Clancy is a mantle, not a single person, and Nico was once a Clancy too. The cycle itself is broken but the cost is high: Clancy is lost, Dema endures. (Breach Album)

Torchbearer packs up to return to Trench, refusing Clancy’s offered cloak. He expresses hope to try again if needed.

The sun will rise. And we will try again. |-/
